The Witcher is an RPG released in 2007 that some excellent reviews but had a number of problems, such as translation. It definitely appealed to me, but when I heard of the problems and the rumor of an updated version, I held getting it. Now, the Witcher – Enhanced Edition is available. metacritic but gamerankings distinguish the enhanced version from the previous version, but gamerankings does. here’s a look at the changes in ratings for common reviewers.
- 1up — Original rating: 70 Enhanced rating: 75
- PC Format UK — Original rating: 60 Enhanced rating: 88
- Thunderbolt– Original rating: 70 Enhanced rating: 80
- Eurogamer — Original rating: 70 Enhanced rating: 80
- IGN — Original rating: 70 Enhanced rating: 80
- Games Xtreme – Original rating: 90 Enhanced rating: 98
With the re-recorded dialog, the added missions, improved performance, and the improved graphics, it seems the game is all the better for it. Even though I’m not thrilled with the collectible nudie cards [which I believe is an optional aspect of the game], I’m intrigued by the rest of it and will probably try to make time to play it, whether I bought the boxed version or download it.
