Dragon Quest Sword – IGN review

Well, it appears that my cynicism about IGN previews was on the money. I predicted a C grade for Dragon Quest: Swords, and IGN gave it a 70 because it was very simplistic and has some odd Wii controls.

Still, IGN says that the game is easily accessible and is more aimed at first-time RPG players. I think that it will fairly well match up with the action beat ‘em up games that my kids have played, so I’m not sure if it’s any more of an RPG intro than what they already have.

I guess I don’t get the low score given that the IGN actually argues that game succeeds at its intended goals and is “a pretty cool game.”  They still seem to judge it as if it were meant for more hardcore RPG players.

Still I had hopes that it would be more of a dungeon crawler/action RPG than it is.
