about me

i grew up in east texas, comfortable with riding a horse or writing my own comic book. i enjoy carpentry or building a computer as much as i enjoy reading gabriel garcia marquez. and i like talking and writing. so, i started this blog as an outlet to talk about the various things that I enjoy, hopefully with some insight though no real expertise. as my cousins near the big thicket once remarked when they heard i had been in school for 9 years, i intended to be “a school marm.” i took a break by getting an internship as a technical writer for a supercomputing company, and i changed professions.

blogs are terribly overdone, so i have no illusions about this one. but it’s way for me to get my inner academic writer out, analyzing and pontificating to a very small audience, with a sense of humor and humility. this blog is all over the map because, well, i am. i play a game, watch a movie, read a book, and play around with computers and applications when I get the wild hair and the chance. i’m as likely to download a linux distribution to install as i am to play everquest or read a book on hermeneutics. because i have a family, i’m not going to be on the vanguard of anything, but lots of folks are in the same position. besides, you hang back far enough in the dog pack, and you’re the lead dog again—whatever that means.
